Understanding
You hear when you listen. You have to listen to understand. There is a focus needed, an active impulse to acknowledge.
Words want to be heard. Babble may be overheard. You can listen to both, yet personal communication starts in listening to words of a counterpart. You might be stimulated by listening to chatter. Nevertheless, you are truly seen by someone listening to what you wanted to make heard.
You are listening to someone you see or picture in your mind. You are listened to by someone who cares whether you are seen or by virtual communication.
In true understanding we carry a picture of our vis-à-vis in our soul.
